Can't Get No Satisfaction
If you're having trouble figuring out just exactly what you accomplished by the end of the week, you're not alone. In a global survey of knowledge workers, the Career Innovation Company in Oxford, England found that 55% of us are unsatisfied with our sense of achievement on the job, a number that goes directly to our bottom line of job satisfaction.

The survey found that 56% are also dissatisfied with their ability to find work-life balance and a majority feels they're so booked up by the office that they aren't able to participate in new experiences.

Life squeeze has an impact on the job, as stress and frustration build that other parts of life aren't being handled or experienced. Those with an active leisure life, studies show, have higher life satisfaction, which translates to the job as well.

Tech Tools Killing Productivity?
They were supposed to help us get stuff done. But now many people buried by the work created by the 24/7 E-leash are having second thoughts. A new survey by Day-Timers says people who feel very productive has fallen from 83% in 1994 to 51% today.

Just 28% of workers called themselves "very" or "extremely" successful at polishing off the work in front of them, compared to 40% in 1994. Back in '94, people got three-quarters of their work done each day; now it's down to two-thirds.

With more and more tasks started but not finished by day's or week's end, it's getting harder for people to feel the success of a job well DONE. New strategies are needed for to manage workflow and expectations in the era of overload.
